Traveler’s Journal 2017

This is a Traveler’s Journal blogpost about the entries in my travelers Journal from our journey to the Cevennes in France this year (2017). This year I took my journal with me, a pen, my watercolours (aquarelle paints) and two brushes, a glue-stick, a pair of scissors and some washi-tapes.

Bible (Art) Journaling with acrylic paints, Genesis 1

I love to make art and to journal in my Bible. Since the beginning of the year I am working a little in my new Bible, and I thought it would be nice to use a lot of different techniques and materials in this Bible.

This post will be about working with acrylic paints in the Bible. With acrylic paints you can start painting with dark colours, in contrast to working with watercolours, so this way I could make a galaxy.

I have used several distress inks and a white pen before to make another galaxy, with these materials it was a lot easier to look through the materials and see and read the text, but with acrylics I could get a more realistic picture.

How to make your own Aquarelle Watercolour Pallet

I love working with aquarelle watercolours. I have found a lot of paints and colours in tubes in a couple of garage sales. But I noticed that I never used those paints. That’s why I wanted to have them in a palette, so I could go and play more with them. A friend saw my palette and asked me to make her one. I thought that would be a great project for a new blog. The picture above is the new palette I made her, and the last pictures of this post show my own and much older palette.

Painting/coloring in a Travelers Journal

A picture speaks a thousand words

This is a picture of a small river, flowing under a bridge with a beautiful old building next to it. It was a very tranquil place, and this picture immediately brings back the feeling I had on the bridge.

This blog is about the use of art, like painting, coloring and doodling in a travelers journal.

How to make your own Travelers Journal

I love looking through my travelers journals. All the memories of the vacation and the trips  are a lot more specific. All the little details will come back in my mind.  This way I have a great way of keeping a memory in a travelers journal during my travels and trips.

Designing a business card – Mixed Media

scan 2

The last 6 months I have been making music with two other ladies. We love to make more dreamy sounds from the Irish, Israelian, Indian and Native American music. We were surprised at how good the music we made sounded, so we started a band. After a lot of discussion and thinking of several funny names, we decided on the name “Galan”, an old Germanic word for enchanting, enchanted music, enchanted singing.

So now we decided this name, it started to become more official. We have been playing on several occasions, and we want to be known and to be found a little bit easier. So the need for a good business card was growing.

Bible (Art) Journaling

Formed in the womb of the mother

History:

For ages people have been writing important and/or personal things down in the margins of the Bible. And a lot of artists have made beautiful works of art based on biblical texts and subjects.

A newer trend is drawing, painting and writing in the Bible, in the margins or over the text on the pages, or in a special journal: Bible (Art) Journaling. You don’t have to be an artist to join the world of Bible (Art) Journaling. The time you spend with God and with His Word is more important than the product and the beauty of the page you are creating.

Restoring Favorite Army Boots

My husband has some over 25 year old secondhand army boots. They are his favorite boots for walking, hiking and gardening. They fit his feet perfectly. You can imagine the state of the poor old things.

Army boots painted during 1st

Years ago they became very ugly, and we bought some paint. I don’t know whether the same product is stil available, but I know for sure there are simular products for sale. The product I used is Tana deep cleanser and leather dye in the colour black. This morning I painted them again.
